Our measuring and fitting service is up and running. We take your measurements and use them to calculate the best bicycle fit for you, depending on your riding style and body type.
We will look at your frame size, stem length, crank lengths and seat height as well as hip balance and cleat angles. Just give us an email (alaric@rwkbicycles.com) and we will arrange a session. In the new year, we will be updating the website again to show off our large collection of great vintage and rare stock. Soon, you will be able to click on any image on the webste to enlarge it.
We have made a start by putting up some of our collection of Ofmega and Campagnolo rear derailleurs. These include the spectacular Ofmega "Mistral" derailleurs, which came in five colours (black, white, yellow, blue and pink). The full groupsets came with matching pedals ("Sintesi"), front deraileur and shifters. The right crankset looked like a ninja throwing star (very cool). If you would like to see anything in particular, give us an email (alaric@rwkbicycles.com or jason@rwkbicycles.com). Alaric writes for and edits the Ofmega pages for Velobase (www.velobase.com), the world's largest database on vintage bicycle components. An RWK client is looking to sell his 1970s Claud Butler Coureur. It is a medium (21" seat tube, 20" top tube). The bike comes with an early Shimano Altus LT gearset and GB alloy stem. We haven't been able to date the frame yet but will have more details soon.
If you are interested, please contact Alaric through alaric@rwkbicycles.com or through the website. The RWK workshop is undergoing some more refurbishment but will still be open to customers. So please come along and bring your bicycles!
Photographs to come soon! The Pashley Classic No. 33 Ice-cream tricycle has been finished and handed over to Pop Creative Foods. It will be used at a show case event on 2nd October. Photographs will be added to the gallery as soon as they are available.
The work included restoration, rebuilding and repainting many of the tricycles parts, as well as finding alternative parts and modifying them to fit the client's requirements. Pop Creative Foods's website can be found here: http://www.popcreativefood.co.uk/ The team are in the process of rebuilding an old Pashley Ice-cream seller's tricycle for a client in Tunbridge Wells. They will be repairing any damaged parts, making new wheels and fabricating missing parts. The rebuild will take a couple of weeks but the workshop will still be open for new custom, so don't be frightened of coming along!
The RWK Bicycles team will be down in Southampton from Wednesday. If you are in the area - give us an email and we will help you with your cycling woes!
We will also be out and about having the odd cycle - so feel free to join in! The workshop is nearly finished - the list of jobs is getting a lot shorter. The roof still needs cladding, another set of lights needs to be put in and one more storage needs to be added, then it is just down to the cleaning up!
We are still open for business, so you can come along and see the progress. We have just taken delivery of a 1982 Hercules Commute. It needs a bit of work - if you are interested in 1980's utility bikes, then this is a classic. We will be cleaning it up and putting it up for sale soon. Terry, our friendly electrician has visited, so all of the plugs and lights now work.
In addition, two more sets of display boards have been installed. Soon, another two work benches will be put in. An area will be put aside for wheel building. There is a lot of tidying up to do and a few more things need to be installed. However, soon the workshop will be open for action. We will let you know as soon as it has all be done! |
